Destination
wedding photographer

Nathanaël Charpentier is a French documentary wedding photographer based in the Loire Valley. He photographs destination weddings in seven countries so far: France, Morocco, Mauritius, the Seychelles, Spain, Belgium and Corsica. The way of working does not change; only the setting does.

A wedding abroad gathers people who never otherwise meet. That is what makes it different: families arrive the day before, stay the day after, and the celebration stretches. There is more to photograph, and more time to do it. I arrive early and leave late. It is a journey, not another date in a diary.

Fitting into a world that is not your own is part of the craft. An Indo-Mauritian wedding is not photographed like an Andalusian finca or a Marrakech palace: the rites, the colours and the order of things all differ. You watch, you ask, you keep quiet, and you find your place.

Andalusia, Spain

An English-speaking couple in an Andalusian finca: white architecture, a patio, the pool, dinner under festoon lights and dancing in the open air.

Marrakech, Morocco

A palace wedding, from the morning preparations to the midnight swim: the dress hanging under the vault, the pink arches, the palm grove and the Atlas from the terrace.

Mauritius

An Indo-Mauritian wedding: embroidered dress and sherwani, dancing late, then the couple session across the island: sugar cane fields, the lagoon, beached boats, a dusk sky.

Brussels & the Seychelles

Their words

“We asked him to photograph our wedding in the Seychelles as well as the start of our honeymoon! […] He knows how to be discreet and let us stay in our bubble!”

Common questions

Do you travel for destination weddings?

Yes. Nathanaël Charpentier has photographed weddings in seven countries: France, Morocco (Marrakech), Mauritius, the Seychelles, Spain (Andalusia), Belgium (Brussels) and Corsica. He travels from the Loire Valley and photographs one wedding per weekend.

How much does a destination wedding photographer cost?

Collections start at €2,700, with travel and accommodation quoted at cost in the proposal. Nathanaël Charpentier arrives the day before and leaves the day after: scouting the venue and seeing the evening light are part of the work, not extras.

Do you work in English?

Yes. Everything is handled in English or French, and contracts exist in both languages. Several of the weddings shown here, in Andalusia and in Mauritius, brought together families from different countries.
